As mentioned below, how we interact with the surrounding environment is part of the theme 'Interaction'. Planting trees, or plants, help our surrounding areas, as well as impacting the globe literally. This picture is depicting an interaction of a human with the environment by planting what looks like a tree or a plant. Planting isn't the only positive way to help our global situation. People can make sure they recycle, break down the plastic that hold the 4-pack soda cans and such. There's tons of way that humans can interact with the environment. Trying to save energy is another one of those major things that impacts our globe positively and for a long time.

Interaction

'interaction' is a theme that describes how the people interact with their environment. When geographers look at the interaction, they study the ways the humans interact with the environment both positively and negatively. A persons interaction with the environment/place can possibly benefit both the people who live there and the surrounding area.

Some examples of 'Interaction' is:

  • Deforestation (Negative)
  • Energy Resources
  • Climate Change
  • Building Houses
  • Planting Trees
  • Building Railroads
  • Building Dams

Our actions and interactions with the surrounding areas can leave a long lasting effect. We can look at Global Warming for example, and notice that our interaction with the environment is causing an effect that is hard for even the smarted people to reverse. The effect of Global Warming was caused by a negative interaction, and in order to reverse Global Warming, more time will be taken by doing positive work for the surrounding areas than it took causing this mass effect on our planet. Even little interactions that are negative towards our geological areas can cause mass disruptions. For example, fishing a lot can kill/wipe-out species of fish, which might be neccessary for the cycle of life, cycle of this world. A single small action can cause a big reaction.

Global Warming is a major negative in our world. We interact with the environment by putting out mass amounts of these toxic gasses into our atmosphere causing the current situation to grow stronger. I believe that interaction also includes how we react to actions that we act upon. For example, we allow these toxic gasses into our atmosphere, but we don't do much to stop them, and that to me is an interaction because it's not just that we're putting those things out there, but we let it be. Global Warming is a major result of years and years of negative interactions between humans and our environment.

This is not exactly a totally human-interaction, but it's a major problem that our environment is facing. Oil spills cause mass havoc on the fish, the ocean, and other important animals that live below the see. This is a very negative interaction that we have with our environment. Animals die because of oil spills, so it's our part to try to make sure that it doesn't occur. How we respond to the matter is also another form of interaction, which also applies to this theme.
