An easy example of 'Location' is your address! Your address signifies your location. Where you live, in what state, in what country. Location as a theme is very simple, and as you'll read below, stuff like mile markers, and direction posts, etc., are markers of location as they notify you of where you're located.

Location

Location describes where the place is, which includes its position on the Earth's surface. There are two (2) ways to describe 'Location'.

Relative Location: 'Relative Location' is a description of a place in relation to another location.

Absolute Location: 'Absolute Location' is the exact location of a place. 'Absolute Location' can use the lines of longitude, and latitude. Other references include;

  • Address
  • Directions
  • Miles
  • Hemisphere

A compass is another one of those simple examples of 'Location' as a theme. What do we use compasses for? To show us the direction that we might need, or are already heading in. A compass tells you where North is, where's South, East, West. These are all locations or at least they help find the location. My house is facing the SW direction, so I know that if I ever can't find my way home, I just need to head SE since my house is facing SW, and that just helps me understand where my house is located (hence correlation with location).
